The sound quality of Japanese compact discs is on occasions considered superior to that of similar products manufactured in Europe or USA. Many discs come complete with booklets containing lyrics in both English and Japanese. A large number of Japanese CDs contain bonus tracks, which are unavailable on either European or American, equivalents. Furthermore, there are thousands of compact discs which have never been released anywhere else in the world and are exclusive to Japan. A question we are often asked is 'Are they sung in Japanese?' The answer is no. The only time lyrics are sung in Japanese is if you choose a CD by a Japanese artist who records in the Japanese language. Please remember that Japanese Laser Discs and Videos are formatted using the NTSC system, and cannot be played on the PAL video system. You must have an NTSC system, or dual format system to play them on. Australian videos are the PAL system and will play on any UK standard VCR. Japanese DVD's are REGION 2 CODING and can be played on most UK DVD players/drives. Video CD's (VCD) can be played on most DVD Players - VCD's are not region coded.
